Great Wall comprou planta da antiga fábrica da Mercedez-Benz, em Iracemápolis. Investimento total será acima de R$ 10 bilhões e fábrica deve produzir linha de SUVs e picapes. A chinesa Great Wall Motors (GWM) anunciou nesta quinta-feira (27) a produção de veículos híbridos e elétricos em uma fábrica em Iracemápolis, interior de São Paulo. Será a maior operação da montadora fora da China, com capacidade produtiva de 100 mil veículos. Com uma oferta de modelos híbridos e elétricos, que ainda estão em desenvolvimento, a empresa vai fazer seu primeiro lançamento no final deste ano. A expectativa é gerar 2 mil empregos até 2025.
Segundo a GWM, o objetivo é se tornar um centro de exportação para a América Latina e ajudar a desenvolver o mercado brasileiro, com tecnologia eletrificada e inteligente em seus produtos, em uma fábrica modernizada, além de estimular a indústria local de fornecedores com a nacionalização de componentes e de criar uma rede de eletropostos. A GWM comprou a planta da antiga fábrica de automóveis premium da Mercedes-Benz. A venda inclui o terreno de 1,2 milhão de metros quadrados, com todos os prédios e os equipamentos de produção. A fábrica passará por uma modernização inicial até o final de 2022, que incluirá processos digitais na produção e linha de montagem inteligente.
